To give ones life to save another is
the greatest deed. Guy graduated from NHS in 1966. He entered
the Army & was sent to Vietnam as a medic. On June 2,
1969, just a few days before his 21st birthday, his patrol
was ambushed, & two men were wounded. Sp4c LaPointe went
to their aid under heavy fire. While administering aid, he
was wounded, but continued to administer aid. Finally, an
enemy grenade mortally wounded all three soldiers. Because
of his gallantry and selflessness, he was posthumously awarded
the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon Johnson. Guys
actions have brought honor to his family, to Northridge, and
the United States. |
