Esther Dennis Middle School Designated Excellent on State Report Card!

For the first time a Northridge school has been designated EXCELLENT by the Ohio Department of Education.  Esther Dennis Middle School earned this recognition by making 5 of 8 indicators on the state report card and by boosting student achievement above state expectations for the past three years. The school also achieved the federal measure of adequate yearly progress.  Principal Timothy J. Whitestone has been the instructional leader of the school for five years. During that time, student achievement has been on a steady increase.  Northridge Superintendent Dave Jackson says, "Our middle school students' progress these past five years, from Academic Watch to Excellent, is truly remarkable. The efforts of the EDMS family are evidenced by their success."

Whitestone gives credit to his staff, students and parents for the improvements. "I cannot say enough about our dedicated staff.  Together, our learning community provides excellent instruction, progress monitoring and targeted intervention for all students. Parents encourage achievement, and our students give a tremendous effort."  While the middle school is the first in the district to earn the
EXCELLENT status, Whitestone is quick to point out that the other buildings are making strides, as well.  "All of our buildings are achieving success.  Esther Dennis Middle School may have been the first, but with so many positive efforts at work in the district, we won't be the last!  It is a great time to be a Northridge Polar Bear!" states Principal Whitestone.
