
Larry O'Donnell
Larry
O'Donnell, a respected and well-liked teacher at
Northridge High School from 1961 to 1998, has died. He
expired at Grandview Hospital shortly after being taken off
a respirator at approximately 4:15 p.m., on Saturday,
January 08, 2011. He was active in the Northridge
community, especially the Northridge Kiwanis Club, a
charter member of the Northridge Hall of Fame and the MC
for the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. He will be
greatly missed.

O’DONNELL,
Lawrence F. “Larry”, 71, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday
January 8, 2011. Larry was born in Rock Island, Illinois on
May 25, 1939 to Alexander & Helen (Nolan) O’Donnell. He
was a graduate of Chaminade High School in 1957, University
of Dayton in 1961, and received a Master’s Degree in
Education from Xavier University. Larry was a teacher at
Northridge High School for over 39 years, during which time
he was advisor to the school paper and was one of the
charter members of the Northridge Hall of Fame. He was very
active in the Northridge Kiwanis Club for over 41 years,
serving in numerous positions including advisor to the Key
Club. Larry was also a volunteer for many charitable
organizations including the North East Churches Food
Pantry. Survived by 2 sisters, Margaret (Jack) Butler,
Helen (Jim, deceased) Roder; 4 brothers, Jeremiah (Carol)
O’Donnell, Fr. Terence O’Donnell, Michael (Mary Ellen)
O’Donnell & James (Gayle) O’Donnell; numerous nieces,
nephews, friends and thousands of students. Mass of
Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Catholic
Church, 149 Franklin St., Dayton, OH 45402. Fr. Terence
O’Donnell, celebrant. Interment Calvary Cemetery. The
family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the
GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, “Northridge Chapel,” 5040
Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. If desired, memorials may
be made to the Northridge Kiwanis Club, 641 Buttercup Ave.,
Vandalia, OH 45377.
